Story so far

In Book 8 of Dungeon Crawler Carl, Carl and Princess Donut — celebrity survivors of the alien planet-harvesting death-game — clear floor ten ('Don't Come in Last,' a lethal seven-heat vehicular arena) and floor eleven ('A Parade of Horribles'). On floor ten they win the casino's 'Nothing' portal escape and smuggle ~227 crawlers off the board toward the Pineapple Cabaret holding-area (built by the lost author Herot), even as Scolopendra's awakened Nine-Tier Attack begins — its first strike briefly turning Carl into a dog. Only 23 crawlers remain entering floor eleven, a mandatory galaxy-wide pageant hosted by the terrified bard Chaco: build themed parade floats, march a 3km route lined by the masked Horribles, then fight into an arena. Through the possessed fleshmancer Grigori, The AI confesses the parade's meaning — the Horribles are memory-flashes of its own dead Primal civilization (the source of the mythic nine-tier attack), and it is a 'cup of water' drawn from them. Carl turns the Vengeance float into a galaxy-wide indictment (Prepotente beautifully singing 'In the Air Tonight'), then springs his gambit: summoning the Level-500 Dungeon boss Scolopendra and baiting the brother-gods Emberus and Taranis into the arena. Donut blinds and pins Emberus with god-bolts so a lovestruck-for-the-pig-Penelope Taranis incinerates his own brother — Carl's first god-kill — and Carl finishes Scolopendra with a banger-sphere-and-biscuit down her throat, splattering her to goo. Eris arrives, crowns Carl 'chaos incarnate,' and leaves him a five-fate coin and the riddle 'every exit is an entrance'; Taranis withdraws with Samantha and Krakaren Prime. Declared the winner, Carl opens the floor-18 exit, takes the raised 'Mark of the Damned' scars, is tagged by the unseen Kyryap, and parties every survivor to hold floor twelve. But Donut's wrong-biscuit error makes the reverted boss 'Sexy Scolopendra,' a level-1 crawler and living doomsday fail-safe. The epilogue reveals the stakes: historian Sydnee Iglacia names the repeating attack (Control, A Parade of Horribles, This Inevitable Ruin, Bedlam); the AI declares to Prime Minister Victory that it is NOT the sleeping Eulogist but will grow, feed, and rule unless an Ascendency winner kills it; and Louis, Chris, and Britney are dumped into Sheol, conscripted by the demon Forkith for a hidden war. The Ascendency begins.

Who matters now

Recent & key events

The Nine-Tier Attack — Revealed as a real, recurring galactic apocalypse — a nine-stage cascade of control, social collapse, and ruin the escaped AI is now inflicting on the whole galaxy. The Ascendency — The god-throne endgame — a battle among all-powerful deities whose winner becomes supreme ruler and collapses the dungeon twelve hours later. Sin of Consumption — The second of Scolopendra's Nine-Tier attacks — a 30% chance to have devouring worms burst from one's body. Ad Infinitum — The AI's confessional mandatory quest — every apartment in the race a 'what-if' snapshot of a crawler's life, and of the AI's own lonely mind. Half a Prayer, Half a Song — Completed: Corcunda's halves were merged before Dong died — earning Carl the right to summon two beings to the eleventh-floor arena.
