Carl

Crawler #4,122 · the man in his underwear · Carl the Compensated Anarchist

Victorious on floor eleven, Carl unites all survivors into one party and resolves to hold floor twelve and stall the Ascendency until everyone escapes.

Story so far

With the gods gone and the Horribles fading from the stands, the AI grudgingly declares Carl the winner and opens the eighteenth-floor exit — while warning that killing OR abandoning the puddled Scolopendra still triggers her final attacks, and that all level-collapse timers past floor eleven are suspended until the Ascendency crowns a winner. Battered, his hand-tattoos now dead raised 'Mark of the Damned' scars, Carl takes grim stock: nineteen crawlers left, Hedy and Sarah Hayse dead, Tipid legless, Sweety gone; he recovers Emberus's dropped memorial crystal, finds a Kyryap tracking tag stuck in his leg, and coaxes the newly-sapient Penelope toward a 'dungeon-born' deal. Then he sends a party request to every last survivor — 'We do this together' — and, watching his pets lick the masks of dead elites ('Eat the rich'), commits to his true endgame: stay on floor twelve, keep anyone from 'winning' the Ascendency until every crawler escapes via the eighteenth floor.

Hope, long absent, floods him — right as Donut confesses a catastrophic inventory mistake and Scolopendra reforms not as a pet but as sapient Sexy Scolopendra.

Appearance

A big, battle-hardened human man in his late twenties, six-foot-three, barefoot and in his underwear, both hands now bearing dead, raised sun-shaped 'Mark of the Damned' scars, filthy and exhausted amid arena wreckage.

Role

The victorious anarchist tactician uniting all survivors and committing to hold floor twelve and stall the Ascendency until everyone escapes.

Relationships

Sexy Scolopendra — The mis-transformed final boss who reforms as a sapient party member and his fail-safe.
Penelope — The sapient pig he urges to take a dungeon-born deal, still guilt-ridden.
Kyryap — Whose tracking-tag dart Carl finds stuck in his leg, marking him.
The Ascendency — The god-throne game he resolves to stall so every crawler can escape.
Donut — His partner, whose inventory slip made Scolopendra a crawler instead of a pet.
