Story so far
In the epilogue, Carl faces the new order: the Bloom censor Loita takes over as PR agent, banning refreshments and clamping down on Odette's once-a-floor lifeline of intel. On air Carl needles the resurrected Maestro over botching a god's power, hears the Death Challenge explained as a 50-to-1 gambling event, and provokes Odette into admitting SHE (not her husband) personally sponsored Hekla — motives still opaque. He resolves to catalog Syndicate/Bloom/corporate symbology in the Cookbook, a gap the last floor proved deadly.
Now level 41 and #3, holding the still-unstable Doomsday bomb and Frank's ring to sell, he descends to floor five: Princess Donut spins the wheel to the Air Quadrant (dodging Sea) and draws the Dirigible Gnomes' sky-castle Wasteland Fortress as their target — a desert opening onto a dune-swept, gnome-filled floor. 'Let's go kill some gnomes.'
