Heat Six's colossal apartment maze, where tiny racers cross seven floors through predictive what-if homes populated by stitched-eyed human shells.
The L'Engle Building is the setting for Heat Six, shrinking every racer and vehicle to toy size inside a vast seven-story apartment building. Each team must pass through a ring on every floor, with false gates and disintegration traps punishing anyone who cannot detect magic, traps, or use advanced navigation. The rooms are predictive what-if models tied to individual crawlers: apartment 712 imagines Tran's family life under different circumstances, while other homes reconstruct people and choices from Louis, Lucia Mar, and other crawlers' pasts.
Their inhabitants are level-99 Human Shells and Dog Shells with eyes sewn shut beneath black X marks. The mandatory quest Ad Infinitum reveals that the AI built the apartments while trying to understand the crawlers' motivations, turning the race into both a dangerous obstacle course and a map of its own obsessive calculations.
An immense, smoke-hazed apartment building viewed from toy scale: ducts like tunnels, furniture like terrain, seven stacked floors, hidden gates, and giant domestic rooms filled with stitched-eyed simulacra.
The sixth racing heat and the AI's physicalized thought experiment, forcing miniature teams through seven deceptive apartment floors.
