A 0%-charged mystery crystal that shouldn't exist since Apito lives — its refusal to charge is now three crawlers' shared quest.
In the god-blind pet stables, Prepotente finally lets Carl examine the Apito memorial crystal, pulling it from inside his robes (it briefly snags on a horn). It is warm to the touch and far heavier than it looks, a small glowing gem smaller than the soul gem that became Carl's Doomsday Scenario, gently pulsing amber like an ordinary soul gem; the system reads only 'Memorial Crystal. Apito.
This item is 0% charged.' Set in silver on a simple chain stuck with a few goat hairs, it is meant to be affixed to jewelry or a weapon and charged by killing (like Carl's patch), whereupon its hidden spells, skills, and knowledge can be extracted — but charging simply does not work, and since Apito herself is not dead, the crystal should not exist at all. Its one recorded act was activating on its own near the end of Faction Wars, shining a dangerous light into the sky at the very moment Yarilo stepped out of the Nothing; Carl's Scavenger's Daughter patch fired then too, and both malfunctioned. Osvaldo, it emerges, has a second such crystal, and his god Tupa set him a quest to learn why they won't charge.
Prepotente's own quest from the Midnight Epicure is simply to hold the crystal until he 'knows when to use it.' Confirming a key rule, Carl gets no god message while holding it inside the god-blind space, and Prepotente none when removing it — proof the stables hide them from divine sight.
A small glowing memorial gem, smaller than a Doomsday soul gem, warm and unexpectedly heavy, pulsing amber and occasionally shifting color, set in silver on a goat-hair-flecked chain.
A malfunctioning 0%-charged mystery crystal binding three crawlers' quests, its refusal to charge a clue to the whole Scavenger cosmology.
