Tupa

A god worshipped by the Brazilian crawlers Osvaldo and Filipe — the faith that bars them from the Cabaret escape.

Story so far

Tupa is a god (or goddess) worshipped by the Brazilian crawlers Osvaldo and Filipe L of Team Flamengo — a deity Carl has never heard of. The name (echoing the Tupi thunder-god of Brazilian myth) surfaces only as Carl reckons with the Pineapple Cabaret's entry rule: no one who worships a god may enter without instigating a smite. Because Team Flamengo worships Tupa, they can never be smuggled to the oasis — a devastating realization that leaves Carl stuck with them as unsaveable rivals in his heat.

Appearance

An unmanifested deity, unseen and undescribed in these chapters.

Role

The god of Osvaldo and Filipe, whose worship disqualifies them from the Cabaret escape.

Relationships

Osvaldo — One of his worshippers, barred by that faith from the Cabaret.
Filipe L — His other known worshipper on Team Flamengo.
Pineapple Cabaret — The refuge his worshippers can never enter without triggering a smite.
