Prepotente's apocalyptic caprid god — protector of prey who ends all existence and turns the eaten into the devourers.
In the god-blind stables Prepotente finally explains the god whose patch Carl wears for protection from vampires and werewolves. The Midnight Epicure 'protects all prey animals by destroying all existence after unleashing all the consumed back into the galaxy' — an apocalyptic deity under whom 'they who were eaten will become the devourers.' The myth began as a xenophobic tale invented to frighten non-caprid children about the caprid race when caprids first integrated into Syndicate culture, but for Prepotente's people it grew into a symbol of hope and comfort in the end-times. Prepotente first heard of the Epicure from a fellow participant during a taping of Plenty of Plenty; his sponsors later granted him the ability to worship the god through a benefactor box, which he accepted.
The Epicure is not sponsored this season. Its quest to Prepotente is minimal and cryptic — hold the memorial crystal and 'know when to use it' — and when the crystal was stolen the god reportedly sent sobbing tirades calling Prepotente a terrible adherent. Earlier, as The Plenty panicked over the escaped gods, the caprids cried to 'manifest the Epicure' as their savior.
An unmanifested caprid apocalypse-god of prey animals, known through a jacket patch, worship, and cryptic quest-messages.
Prepotente's apocalyptic prey-protector god, whose crystal quest ties into the whole Scavenger mystery.
