Field Ruling Adjudication

the field ruling · the adjudication

Official hearing in Queen Imogen's kitchen where three adjutants examine Stockade's foul against Carl.

Story so far

Immediately after the ballroom bloodbath, Panford convenes an official Field Ruling Adjudication in the late Queen Imogen's private kitchen, off the side of the ballroom. Six attend: the three warlords — Carl, Stockade, and Architect Houston — and their three adjutants, Panford, Baroness Victory, and Opiee. No guards are permitted; a group of bugbear mercenary cooks is shooed out. Carl is segregated ten feet from the rest, still dripping blood, while the adjutants sit together at the table's center dividing him from the rival warlords.

Panford summons floating screens and walks through the evidence — the Warlord Chat parlay offer, the timed Summon Ally, the accepted teleport request, Carl's partial materialization, and even Katia's private nightmare — securing an "agreed" from each adjutant, each confirmation marked by a chime from the system. He explains that all fouls carrying sanctions must be examined by a Minor Quorum. The hearing produces two rulings on record: Baroness Victory's formal refutation of Stockade's counter-accusation, and Panford's note that Stockade admitted his own guilt. It is still underway when reports of enemy movement force Carl to call a code red.
