The party's timid, third-person-speaking shark — once Carl's fearsome megalodon tattoo, now a resleeved person with spider legs and a fear of heights.
Jamal is the party's shark companion — once Carl's fearsome megalodon tattoo, brought to life and resleeved into a small land-bound body fitted with spider-like legs, Mordecai-designed grabber 'hands,' and, newly, sticky feet. He speaks in a meek, apologetic third person ('Jamal does protest') and helps brush the crew for their daily buffs. Achingly aware that he is not the brave creature he used to be, Jamal tests his new sticky feet by walking upside-down across the Upano garage ceiling — then gets stuck there for hours, too woozy and, it emerges, too afraid of heights to come down.
His stranding pours out into a raw confession: he misses the ocean, he is terrified now that everything is scarier, and Hedy told him that if Carl dies, they all simply stop existing without even knowing — as happened to the gremlin and the lost racers' houses. He climbed up 'to see it all at once,' the way he did when he was 'real,' because he is afraid of losing everything he can now see. Princess Donut hovers up and gently talks him down, telling him he is family and shouldn't be scared to ask for help — and he settles on the garage floor with Mongo curled beside him.
A shark's body refitted with spidery mechanical-jointed legs and grabber 'hands' and sticky feet, small enough to cling to ceilings; timid and expressive despite the fearsome shape.
The party's gentle, anxious resleeved shark, a former tattoo grappling with fragile new selfhood.
