Story so far
Knox rose from shift manager to head of Mechanical, where he oversaw Juliette’s work and disliked her excessive shifts. He remembered the stubbornness of her apprenticeship and welcomed her return from the up top with an enthusiastic hug. He helped pass her computer material to Scottie and Walker, but stood by during her arrest and later sent an apology.
After Walker exposed the deliberate failure of cleaning suits, Knox challenged the system he had both trusted and feared. He ordered supplies stockpiled and defenses checked, sought an alliance with Supply, and planned an armed expedition while leaving a small crew to maintain operations. He wanted to expose IT’s secrets, vindicate Juliette and, if possible, obtain a peaceful transfer of power, even while demanding that Bernard and others be sent to clean. Responsibility for his followers weighed on him; carrying a gun and bombs, he feared leading good people to slaughter.
During the ascent, Knox assigned Shirly and Courtnee to help farmers make an illicit power connection, calling them his best workers. He threw the second bomb into IT and died in the attack. Jenkins took over after his death. Juliette later receives the terrible news and mourns him.
