Story so far

When Kiwi delivers twins in the field hospital tent, the system announces them as Newborn Ursensus, Female, Level 0, Legendary Creature. The The AI gloats about being allowed to create new monsters within the confines of the game rules: part raptor, part bear, part Scolopendra magic, all adorable, and warns that these fuzzy little meat-eaters will be quite the handful when grown. Because of the mob's intelligence level, they cannot be used as pets — which does not stop Samantha from demanding one.

The newborns resemble owlbears but not quite: four legs, stubby wing nubs, a generous crop of wet brown fur, and distinctly Mongo-like heads with beaks but no feathers. Their bulbous pug-like eyes rotate unfocused in their sockets and do not match each other, making Rend's eyes look normal by comparison. Their cries are unsettlingly mammalian, almost human. Donut is enchanted; Elle and Florin are horrified.

Appearance

Four-legged fuzzy cubs in wet brown fur with vestigial wing stubs, beaked raptor-shaped heads, and mismatched bulbous pug eyes that rotate without focusing.

Role

A new legendary species created by the dungeon rules from the union of a bear and a velociraptor.
