Sledge

Sledgie

Donut's rock-monster bodyguard, who casts Zerzura to save Larracos and then departs the crawl for good.

Story so far

In the last minutes of The Ninth Floor, Sledge said goodbye to Donut, who called him the best bodyguard anyone could ever have. He patted her on the head and told her that maybe he'd see her again, and maybe he'd see Bomo, and that maybe by then she wouldn't need a bodyguard anymore. Donut insisted she would always need her Sledgie, headbutted him, and jumped from his back to Carl's shoulder.

Sledge then announced he was starting to cast, and glowed as he began Zerzura — the five-minute spell that would lift Larracos and Shanty Town down to The Twelfth Floor. He counted down the last twenty seconds himself. Just before the flash, he turned to Carl and asked whether he had made a difference. Carl told him he had. As a hired mercenary, Sledge does not transfer with the city; he and the surviving Cretins simply disappear when the spell fires, bound for NPC Storage or the Mercenary Markets.

Appearance

A hulking rock monster, big enough for Donut to ride on his back and shoulder and to pat her on the head with a stone hand.

Role

Donut's devoted bodyguard and the caster of the spell that saves two cities' worth of people.
