The murdered gnome hostage, whose corpse is reanimated as a ghoulish decoy to trick the gnomes before crumbling to dust.
Wynne — the aged Dirigible Gnome Flesh Mechanic and great-uncle of Commandant Kane, held as Hump Town's hostage collateral and speared to death by the subterranean crawlers — finds a grim second use after death. Carl's team recovers his beetle-chewed but face-intact corpse and Princess Donut reanimates it with Second Chance into a snapping, ghoulish zombie, passing it off to Leon the Commissar as a living, spell-sickened Wynne needing a fake potion ("Healer's Respite," actually Mountain Dew). His class explains the ruse's plausibility: a Flesh Mechanic's resurrection magic leaves the caster in a zombie-like stupor, so the gnomes half-believe it — until Leon judges him "much worse than usual," a ghoul.
Mid-inspection the spell expires and Wynne's reanimated head disintegrates into dust, forcing Katia Grim to grow a replacement head unnoticed. His body's role in the deception helps deliver the gnomes to their doom.
