The floating black fortress-station above the pole where Golds pose as the Obsidians' gods—stormed and gutted by Darrow and the Valkyrie.
Asgard is a black mountain of stone and glass hung in the twilight above the polar ice, the seat of the 'Aesir'—Peerless Scarred Golds of the Board of Quality Control who play Odin, Freya, Loki, and the rest to keep the Obsidian enslaved by superstition. Eight towers ring a central glass pyramid; a stone stairway, the Way of Stains, tethers it to the world below past the Shadowmouth Temple, its Valley of the Fallen littered with frozen dead. Ringed by griffin-deafening emitters and a molecule-boiling pulse shield—all blinded by Quicksilver's hackers looping three-year-old footage—it is nearly impregnable, so Darrow baits its bored gods down with a tale of a fallen ship.
Disguised as Valkyrie, he, Mustang, and Sefi kill Freya and 'Loki' (the old Proctor Mercury), then capture the rest of the pantheon, seizing the armory and mainframe with the help of two sympathetic Greens. The captured 'gods' are dragged to the Spires as proof of the lie, and the station becomes a Rising asset over the pole.
A brooding black mountain of stone and glass floating in polar twilight, eight glass towers spoked around a dark central pyramid, a precarious stone stairway rising through the clouds past screaming stone-faced temples.
