Story so far
With the war's back broken, Cassius chooses to leave. Mustang wants him to stay and help build a fairer justice, but he's had his fill of living for others and of politics—'there's nothing for me here but memories.' He departs Luna taking the orphaned Lysander into his care, over Sevro's dark warnings that sparing the Lune heir is 'like leaving a pitviper egg under your seat'; Cassius sees in the boy the same good soul as his lost brother Julian and vows to raise him right, away from all this. On the citadel landing pad he says farewell to Darrow almost six years to the day since they met, trying to return the wolf ring he took the night Lorn au Arcos and Fitchner died—but Darrow closes his hand around it: 'That belongs to Julian.' They shake hands, and Cassius names Darrow 'brother' at last, his long arc from best friend to blood-enemy to true brother complete as he sails off to a quieter life.
