Karnus Au Bellona

The brutal eldest Bellona, who begs to kill Darrow aboard the Sovereign's shuttle and is beheaded by him instead.

Story so far

Karnus au Bellona flees Mars aboard Octavia au Lune's shuttle with the Sovereign's entourage when Darrow leaps aboard. Gloating at the gift fallen into their laps, he begs the Sovereign for the right to kill Darrow for his family—only to be told his family has lost her Mars and has no rights. When she instead orders Fitchner to do it, Karnus shoves the Rage Knight aside and charges anyway, bellowing Darrow's name.

He feints high; Darrow side-flips inside the swing, runs him through the stomach, and—'rise so high, in mud you lie'—pulls the blade out through his back and beheads him, though Karnus's cut opens Darrow's collarbone. The brute who once rammed Darrow's ship, murdered Leto's peers, and massacred Mustang's fleet dies on the Sovereign's own deck.
