character

Mustang

Virginia au Augustus

Augustus's daughter, absent and 'missing' during the coup—she did not betray Darrow, and her fate hangs unresolved.

Story so far

Mustang does not return to Agea after confronting Darrow in the Lykos deepmine with the truth of his Red identity. Her absence hangs over Darrow's Triumph like an axe—Fitchner frets, the Jackal and Cassius note she is 'missing,' and Darrow can only guess whether she will sign his death or reappear. When the coup falls, it is clear she was not its author: Cassius asks if Darrow was 'warned,' and the Jackal answers only 'angered—lover's spat.' She did not deliver Darrow to her father Nero au Augustus, now murdered, nor to the Sovereign.

Vanished with the holoCube truth and her impossible choice unmade, she survives the massacre that claims so many, her allegiance and heart still unresolved as the rebellion lies in ruins.

Appearance

A young Gold woman with golden hair and golden eyes; unseen, absent from the events on Mars.

Role

Darrow's lover; absent during the coup, having neither betrayed nor openly stood with him.

Relationships

Darrow — Whom she neither betrays nor saves, vanishing with the truth of what he is.
The Jackal — Her twin, whose coup she has no part in, dismissed by him as a 'lover's spat.'
Nero au Augustus — Her father, murdered by her twin while she remains missing.
