Mechanical and Supply Uprising

The rebellion sparked by Juliette’s survival has become a costly suppression, with defenders overrun and reports of dozens dead and many detained.

Story so far

Walker recognizes an uprising beginning when his account of deliberately failing cleaning suits enrages the mechanics. Deagan Knox presents rebellion as restoring order and ending inherited oppression, winning Supply’s support. The march hides beneath a staged outage and repair mission, with two groups timed to reach level thirty-four together. Some carry guns and bombs, others sharpened iron shanks.

Explosions breach IT’s doors and security gate. Lukas shoots an old woman carrying a bomb; her dropped explosive destroys the chairs and people among them. A second assault fails, and the expedition retreats down the stairs. Marck judges McLain’s explosion to have destroyed their plans. Fighting then continues at Mechanical for weeks, with gunfire and blasting powder battering steel defenses.

A major assault and the demolition of the stairwell fail to end the fighting immediately. Attackers eventually enter the defenders’ position during what they hope will be the final push. Lukas hears that dozens have died and three or four times as many have been detained. Bernard Holland nevertheless claims this uprising is less severe than the previous one.

Role

An armed challenge to the silo’s ruling system that has become a prolonged and increasingly destructive suppression.
