During the faction wars, the Viceroys — who called themselves The Madness — fielded a chief surgeon with a spell that cooked a target's brain. Teeth fell out. The liquid in the eyeballs turned to acid and then exploded across the victim's own face. Tipid saw it happen to Rosaline.
The memory is what surfaces when Damien tells Tipid his transport to a Viceroy System is booked. The same faction that produced this surgeon also produced the only medicine capable of repairing Tipid's Brain Lesions — and Tipid, fogged and frightened, has to go anyway.
