Story so far
Ferdinand wears a gold chain around his neck with a small jeweled charm hanging from it when he arrives at the Desperado Club. The charm is the token of his office as Mayor of Shanty Town.
Carl identifies its function while laying out his offer: transferring the mayorship to the crawlers means the jewel on Ferdinand's necklace will go away. The cat accepts, and the accepted Trade Request moves the office - and with it the charm - away from Team Retribution.
