A tent-and-timber survivor camp of uncollected humans in ruined Seattle, ignored by the aliens — where Beatrice is found and captured.
New Queen Anne is a survivor settlement of 'native' humans in the ruins of Seattle, built against a collapsed bridge to shelter from the freezing sound winds — over thirty tents, controlled fires, salvaged vehicles, and the beginnings of wood buildings, with a work-or-leave ethos (fishing, foraging, tilling, building). Its ~74 residents survived the collapse without entering the dungeon and are simply ignored by the aliens overhead, dismissed as irrelevant. Among them is Beatrice, Carl's ex, sheltering with Brad and her stray cat Ferdinand.
The camp becomes a covert battleground when alien hunters raid it for the cat and Odette's agent Lexis captures Beatrice — the settlement to be quietly 'cleaned up' by on-payroll Syndicate security.
