The recap-show host revealed as a covert power-broker running Earth-side operatives — who has Beatrice captured alive for a secret 'much better use.'
Odette, the dungeon's recap-show host and Carl and Donut's frequent interviewer, is unmasked in the epilogue as a covert operator with reach onto ruined Earth itself. She directs her operative Lexis through the raid on the New Queen Anne camp: to capture Beatrice alive (not sell her to Borant), frame the surviving null hunter Sadir for his partner's death, let Brad die, and cube the cat Ferdinand for Borant's walk-on bounty — all cleaned up by security men on her payroll. She'll buy out Sadir's warrant to guarantee his silence.
Her interest in Beatrice — Carl's ex and Princess Donut's original owner — is pointed and proprietary: 'Tell her I can't wait to meet her... we have a much better use for her.' Her true motives remain opaque, but her power clearly extends far beyond the broadcast booth.
Unseen this scene, present as a floating communicator image directing her operative.
