character

Beatrice

Bea · Miss Beatrice · Princess Donut's owner

Carl's ex and Princess Donut's original owner, revealed alive in a Seattle survivor camp — broken, hunted, and captured by Odette's agent for 'a much better use.'

Story so far

Beatrice — Carl's ex-girlfriend and Princess Donut's original owner, whose photo Carl keeps on his nightstand — is revealed alive on ruined Earth. She survived the collapse in a Seattle airport group (with the man she cheated with, Brad, and four dentists), never entering the dungeon, and now lives in the New Queen Anne survivor camp, unraveling: she cries herself to sleep, does no work, and clings to a half-feral neighbor's cat she calls 'Ferdinand' (really Gravy Boat), singing guilt-ridden lullabies that echo her loss of Princess/Donut. When alien bounty hunters (Sadir and Gennrik) raid the camp hunting the cat, Odette's operative Lexis intervenes, knocks her out, and cubes her — telling her Odette 'can't wait to meet her' and has 'a much better use' for her than selling to Borant.

Appearance

A human woman with fresh scratches all over her face and arms from the feral cat, disheveled and mentally fraying, prone to rocking and humming.

Role

Carl's lost ex and Donut's first owner, found alive and captured by Odette's people.

Relationships

Princess Donut — Her original show cat, whom she mourns as dead.
Brad — The man she cheated with, now her resented tent-mate.
Ferdinand — The half-feral neighbor's cat she clings to as a surrogate.
Lexis — Odette's agent who captures her for 'a much better use.'
