The showrunner who ends an interview with a curse disguised as sympathy, then routes her warnings through an assistant.
Moments after the announcement of the takeover, Odette asks Carl and Princess Donut not to say anything about the interview until it airs — not after the next Recap Episode but the one after that. She tells them she'll see them upon the collapse of this floor and vanishes, leaving behind the line that haunts Carl for the rest of the chapter: too bad it's the The Valtay, you poor bastards. She is also keeping Beatrice sequestered, which Donut takes as a sign she pushed too hard in the interview.
What she will not say to Carl directly, she says through Lexis. During the two-minute system hand-off when no sniffers are listening, Lexis relays Odette's read on the season — the Country Boss hidden in Queen Imogen, the trap being built at The Butchers Masquerade, the Valtay's appetite for choosing their own top ten — and confirms that going down the stairs early is Odette's advice as well. Carl works out the arrangement immediately: everything is coming from Odette, filtered through her assistant so that if they are caught she keeps plausible deniability.
Not described in this chapter beyond her manner — a showrunner who controls a room by leaving it, precise about what airs and when, and about being seen to say nothing incriminating.
The show's producer, simultaneously the one squeezing Carl and Donut for content and the one quietly warning them what is coming.
