Sequestered by the showrunner after a bruising interview, and nearly cast as the face of an elf queen.
Beatrice never appears on the page here, but she is the chapter's guilty conscience. Princess Donut opens by remarking that Bea always wanted to be a reality television star and that it's too bad Odette is keeping her sequestered — then wonders aloud whether she was too hard on her in the interview, saying she needed to say it but is starting to think she was too cruel.
Lexis adds a colder layer. When explaining that Queen Imogen of the High Elves is a country boss and almost certainly a repurposed human, she says the obvious choice was Beatrice, because of Carl's ties to the Vengeance of the Daughter storyline — and that with that apparently no longer the plan, nobody knows who it will be now. Carl's own guilt over what just happened with Bea is what stops him being angry at Donut for her smuggling; he judges it would be hypocritical beyond belief.
Not described in this chapter — a fellow crawler kept out of sight by the production between appearances.
A crawler entangled with Carl's storyline, kept sequestered by the show and quietly considered for a starring role as a boss.
