The Butcher's Masquerade

The Masquerade

The ritual fails when Apito turns away after Signet's sacrifice, terminating the chamber protections before Imogen can become immortal.

Story so far

The party reaches its final talent act with only a five-minute dance remaining. Donut's charms hold the room while Signet prepares the act that the goodwill protections cannot prevent.

Signet's self-sacrifice sends her to the Nothing and causes Apito to withdraw support. The system declares the Masquerade failed to cast, ends the protective seal, and closes the party immediately.

The judges and Chaco vanish to safety as the chamber becomes vulnerable to violence, magic, smoke, and the surrounding siege.

Appearance

A lavish party collapsing into smoke and combat as its divine seals extinguish.

Role

The failed ritual denies Imogen immortality and releases every hostile faction into direct conflict.

Relationships

Signet — Her sacrifice causes the divine rejection that ends it.
Apito — The deity turns away and withdraws the ritual's support.
Queen Imogen — Its failure denies her intended ascension.
The Ballroom Seal — Its protections end with the failed casting.
