Grand

The Grand

The title given to mayors of the biggest settlements, seized by a hunter who murders the named city's NPC leader.

Story so far

Crawler Forkith's cookbook notes explain that on the Hunting Grounds, the moment the hunters arrive one of them always hunts down and kills the NPC leader of the named city, which hands them control of it. It appears to be the only city they are permitted to do this in — otherwise they would hold every settlement by the time crawlers arrive. Grand is the title given to mayors of the biggest settlements, and the victorious hunter installs themselves under it.

Princess Donut noticed the Zockau guards' dots were already red; Carl explained this meant the mayor had been killed and the new Grand had ordered crawlers attacked on sight. On the map, the Grand's purple dot is marked with a star. Carl hunted for it after casting Ping and could not find it — the Grand was in a saferoom, asleep, or out of range. It was only during the escape, under crossbow fire from a level-70 flying hunter, that his second Ping finally revealed the star high above.

Role

The hunter-held mayoralty of the named city, and the target Carl repeatedly hunts for on his map.
