Ping

Carl's intelligence-scaled detection pulse, filtered to isolate two purple hunter tags within a noisy three-kilometer radius.

Story so far

Ping normally reaches one kilometer plus five hundred meters for each ten intelligence, modified by the environment. Major Charlie pushes Carl high enough to project it three kilometers from above the town.

The initial pulse fills his map with every neutral snake, monkey, and bird. Carl remembers the filter, removes everything except purple hunters, and identifies two magically equipped elves in a clearing northeast.

Appearance

A loud expanding sonar-like pulse that populates the user's map with tagged entities.

Role

Ping converts an invisible artillery threat into precise coordinates for Samantha's launch.

Relationships

Carl — His intelligence determines its reach, and his filter turns the cluttered result useful.
Akland — The pulse locates him and his partner despite concealment.
