Ping

Here piggy, piggy · The Night Dread

An audible artillery-scanning spell that reveals the range and location of all nearby NPCs and mobs — the terror-weapon of the Dream's gunnery elves.

Story so far

Ping is the spell Carl gains from his platinum quest box — a hunting and artillery-aiming tool learned by every gunnery officer of the elven 'Dream' faction. For 5 mana it sends an audible ping (traveling at the speed of sound) across a kilometer-plus radius that scales with intelligence, marking every non-crawler, non-red-tagged mob's distance and location even beyond map range; targets hear the ping but can't tell its source, and higher levels reveal more (at level 5, it can carry a Fear effect). It doesn't detect crawlers or red-tagged mobs, but Carl prizes it as a tool for the sixth and ninth floors: it will find NPCs and, crucially, elites and hunters.

Five-minute cooldown.

Appearance

An instantaneous audible sonar-like pulse expanding from the caster.

Role

An NPC/mob-locating artillery spell aimed at finding hunters and elites on later floors.
