Point Mongo

the town

The ursine town Carl and Donut hold, now taking poison bombs from the treeline.

Story so far

Point Mongo is home base this chapter — the town above the Personal Space where Carl and Princess Donut have been consolidating. Carl spends the quiet part of the chapter listing what it still needs from him: devices for the assault on the naiad castle, work with the local NPCs before they move south and take the next big town, and two overdue visits to the Desperado Club and Club Vanquisher.

The quiet ends with a distant explosion that rattles the Personal Space, then another from several streets over. Clint Smashgrab bangs on the door shouting that they are attacking. Out in the hallway, the pub is full of shouting Ursine. The attackers are High Elves, who have built some kind of magical trebuchet or catapult out in the middle of the woods and are lobbing poison bombs into the town from very far away — poison, Clint Smashgrab points out with contempt, against Funeral Bells guards, which is like attacking a mongoliensis by throwing sausages at it.

The town's defences are therefore largely immune to the ordnance being used on them; the problem is that nobody can reach the launcher, and nobody knows how many elves are out there. Carl leaves the crowd mid-conversation with a ridiculous idea and something he needs to go grab.

Appearance

An ursine settlement with a pub whose hallway connects to personal space doors, streets close enough together that a strike two blocks off shakes the floor, and dense woods pressing in around it.

Role

Carl and Princess Donut's settlement and staging ground, now under long-range bombardment.

Relationships

Ursine — Its population, currently packing the pub and shouting about the attack.
High Elves — Shelling it with poison bombs from a magical siege engine hidden in the woods.
Carl — Its de facto defender, already forming a plan for the launcher he cannot see.
