Apollo

Proctor Apollo

The vain Proctor who covers the Jackal's escape and threatens Mustang's life — and is killed when Darrow drives a knifeRing through his eye in midair.

Story so far

Apollo intervenes on the storm-swept mountainside to save the fleeing, one-handed Jackal from Darrow's hunting pack, blasting the Howlers apart with a pulseFist and shrugging off Darrow's blade with his impenetrable pulseArmor. Soaring three hundred meters up with Darrow dangling by the hair, he reveals the Proctors hold Mustang captive and will ruin her unless Darrow publicly loses to the ArchGovernor's son before the Drafters. Then he makes his fatal error: to "cut the puppet's strings" he drops Darrow — but Darrow wears the gravBoots he stole from Fitchner and does not fall, and with Apollo's shield lowered over his whole body, drives Dancer's knifeRing blade through the Proctor's visor and eye four times, killing the Peerless Scarred.

Apollo tumbles dead through the storm, the second god Darrow has unmade — and the one whose murder turns the Reaper toward Olympus itself.
