Story so far
Mustang never betrayed Darrow: she delivers her twin the Jackal bound and naked at his feet, and the Reaper wins the Institute, his slingBlade flying over every House but the fallen Pluto. At the victory ceremony before Director Clintus and the assembled Imperators, Sevro's edited holo-record damns the Proctors' rigging and burnishes the Reaper's legend — while quietly hiding Darrow's telltale lowColor word. Then the ArchGovernor Nero au Augustus, Eo's killer, draws him aside: he admits rigging the game for his son and buys Darrow's silence with patronage — the Academy, the Sovereign, a place as his lancer.
Choking down his fury and his longing for his true family in Lykos, Darrow sees the opportunity Dancer's rebellion needs: to rise beneath the dragon's wing and burn it from within. He kneels, forswears the name Andromedus, and rises as Darrow, Lancer of House Augustus — the hope of all people in bondage, planted at the heart of the power that hanged his wife, as the real war begins.
