Story so far
Drummer's surrender at Leuctra brings the Earth-Mars fleet down with hers. Three months of occupation follow while People's Home trails the damaged Tempest like a servant. Captain Rowman Perkins takes absolute authority over the void city and confines Drummer to her rooms, censoring all data while preserving her comfort as part of Laconia's victory narrative. Her days alternate between relief from responsibility and crushing depression, with no word from Saba.
At TSL-5, Trejo asks Drummer to retain the presidential title for continuity and invites her to Duarte's permanent convocation on Laconia. She recognizes the plan to move humanity's culture and important people toward the imperial capital, not merely its ships. Before a staged press conference, Chrisjen Avasarala gives her a moment of fellowship and insists the struggle is not over. Drummer then stands before Monica Stuart and begins the approved declaration that the Transport Union was always temporary, speaking the words conquest permits while thinking the refusal it forbids.
