character

Camina Drummer

Drummer

With Fred dead, Drummer holds Tycho's security and authority together while refusing to let its future be decided from a distance.

Story so far

Camina Drummer is the Tycho security chief whom Fred Johnson asked to keep an eye on the station while he was away. When the Rocinante arrives carrying news of Fred's death, she has already made mourning private and returned to her public role: sharp, armed, and attentive to every threat at the docks.

Technically, Tycho belongs to Bredon Tycho and a board far away on Earth or Luna. Drummer makes the practical claim that matters: the people who are physically on the station will run it until someone present makes a stronger case. Her guarded reception and control of access give James Holden a place to hold the OPA summit, but they also make clear that Fred's authority cannot simply be inherited without work.

Appearance

A hard-eyed Belter security chief with a sharp, alert bearing and practical station-security clothing; grief is held privately behind professional composure.

Role

Drummer is the immediate guardian of Tycho's safety and autonomy in the vacuum left by Fred's death.

Relationships

[[Fred Johnson]] — Fred entrusted her to keep Tycho safe; she now must fulfill that charge without him.
[[Tycho Station]] — She asserts practical authority over the station's security and operations in the absence of its distant owners.
[[James Holden]] — She gives Holden the protected space needed for the summit while keeping its risks under control.
