Story so far
On Luna, Amos Burton brings Clarissa Mao aboard the Rocinante concealed in a freight crate and calls her his prospective engineering apprentice. Alex Kamal immediately objects that she is now unguarded aboard a ship she once tried to destroy; Amos accepts the distinction but postpones the confrontation with James Holden until after Avasarala's briefing. His casual certainty treats Clarissa's return as a practical crew decision while recognizing that he still must persuade the people she harmed.
At the briefing, Amos hears Avasarala describe a system in which Earth is crippled, Mars's Navy has fragmented, and legitimacy itself is available to whoever can seize it. He supports Holden's point that Belters will follow Marco only if every other future has been closed to them, while also dismissing the idea that they will accept passive dependence. When Naomi asks immunity for the crew and one unnamed possible future case, Amos understands enough to see that her bargain may also make room for Clarissa.
