Free Navy

While the Free Navy seizes Medina traffic and starves colonies, Duarte's breakaway fleet treats Marco's uprising as a useful distraction rather than its true purpose.

Story so far

Marco Inaros presents the Free Navy as the militant authority of the Belt, using asteroid attacks, stolen Martian warships, and control of interplanetary movement to claim a new order. Its forces now operate at Medina Station, intercepting ships such as the freighter Toreador and diverting resources that stranded colonies urgently need. The immediate result is piracy on a scale that can weaken the colony worlds and make the Belt's power seem inescapable.

The epilogue also reveals the movement's strategic limitation. Captain Sauveterre expects the Free Navy to hold Earth and Mars in crisis for years, but sees it as an amateur and potentially disposable force. Winston Duarte's rogue Martian fleet uses the chaos Marco has made to travel toward Laconia and pursue alien power beyond the Free Navy's apparent war. Marco's revolution therefore masks another initiative without yet making its leaders partners in its ultimate purpose.

Appearance

A militant political force represented by split-circle banners, militarized Belter crews, commandeered traffic, and the steady seizure of supply routes through Medina.

Role

The Free Navy is Marco's insurgent government, now powerful enough to starve colonies and reshape transit while also serving as cover for a hidden Martian agenda.
