Rollo

A wry Red engineer and Sons contact on Phobos who dreams of home and dares the Reaper to raise the Hive's twenty-five million.

Story so far

Rollo, a stringy, wry Red engineer and the Sons' contact on Phobos, smuggles Darrow's team onto the moon and shelters them after the disastrous raid. A contract wage-slave who has welded the towers for eight years to pay off a transit debt, unable to return to his wife and children in New Thebes, he burns with weary rage at being 'stepped on and charged for oxygen.' When Sevro's escape plans collapse, Rollo makes the audacious case that the Reaper need not flee: reveal himself to the Hive's twenty-five million desperate lowColors—who crashed Phobos's servers just trying to watch his Carving—and they will rise as a tide. An engineer, not a mere welder, he swears he can cut the Society's air and water with a screwdriver, and offers Darrow an army.

Appearance

Stringy and wry, half a head shorter than Sevro, with a clean-cut goatee, a toothpick habit, sparkling bright eyes, and an easy charm; thirty-eight, weathered by hard labor.

Role

Sons engineer and organizer on Phobos; the voice urging Darrow to spark a lowColor uprising in the Hive.

Relationships

Darrow — The Reaper he shelters and dares to raise the Hive's millions rather than run.
Sevro — The Ares whose reckless flight plans he openly derides, urging a stand instead.
Victra — The Julii who scorns him as a welder, whom he defies to his full unbowed height.
