Vela Au Raa

Legate Vela

Romulus's sharp-eyed sister and legate, who receives Darrow on Io and unveils the nuke evidence that damns Roque.

Story so far

Vela au Raa is the sister of Romulus and a Rim legate, a lithe, low-gravity Gold in her fifties who misses little and judges much. She meets Darrow's party on the sulfur dunes of Io with her brother's greeting, refusing to speak for him and insisting Darrow trust the Rim's honor to be brought unarmed and untracked to Romulus's home. Wary of Sefi's razor and scornful of the party's Venus-built ship, she nonetheless embodies the Rim's word-as-blood creed.

At the parley she operates Mustang's datapad to reveal the falsified records of the Sovereign's nuclear depot—reading them with dawning fury—then, at Romulus's order, escorts the disgraced Roque to his shuttle and holds him until Darrow is safely off the moon.

Appearance

A tall, lithe, low-gravity Gold woman in her early fifties, pale-skinned with a smashed-flat nose, in tan Rim combat gear with a colored scarf, a kryll breathing mask and orange optics, an ivory-stocked railgun on her back.

Romulus's sister and legate; the Rim envoy who brokers the parley and helps spring the nuke evidence on Roque.
