The Ash Lord

Magnus au Grimmus · Imperator

The Sovereign's grotesque, merciless Imperator, who commands the Scepter Armada at Luna and springs the trap to crush the Rising against his anvil.

Story so far

The Ash Lord—Magnus au Grimmus, the Society's supreme Imperator and, by the war's shape, Aja's father—directs the defense of Luna from a corvette at the rear of the mighty Scepter Armada, his signal bounced through dozens of ships. A grotesque, jowled head twice the size of his adjuncts in holo, dark-gold eyes under thick brows, he arrays his fleet in a concave shield across Luna's darkside and keeps Darrow's Rising at bay fifty kilometers out, waiting for the Jackal's hidden fleet to swing around their flank and hammer the rebels against his anvil. Where Roque cared for the ships' heritage and lives, the Ash Lord has no such restraint—a thuggish destroyer who smashes vessels to oblivion and will win at any cost.

He cedes command of the Jackal's ships to the ArchGovernor at the crucial hour and orders Cassius to escort the captured Reaper to the Citadel and the Sovereign, where his daughter will take custody. He is the iron hand crushing Darrow's fleet in the void above.

Appearance

A grotesque older Gold with a heavy jowled face hanging over a high black collar, dark-gold eyes beneath twin thickets of eyebrows; seen only as a vast disembodied holographic head.
