Story so far

The Dawn Scepter is the sacred emblem of the Sovereign's authority: a meter-long length of gold and iron tipped with the triangle of the Society and the withered heart of the Obsidian warlord who led the Dark Revolt nearly five hundred years ago. It rests on a table in Octavia's bunker through her fall, watched over by her heir Lysander. When the Gold Praetors brand Mustang a traitor, Lysander takes up the scepter and places it in her hands—'She is no traitor.

She is our conqueror'—transferring the Society's own symbol of legitimate rule to the Rising's Sovereign. Mustang bears it into the Senate alongside Octavia's severed head as the twin proofs Gold respects: conquest and right. It is the object that turns a coup into a crowning, binding the high Colors to Virginia au Augustus as the new ruler of a changed Society.

Appearance

A meter-long rod of gold and iron, crowned with the triangular pyramid of the Society atop the blackened, withered heart of a long-dead Obsidian warlord.

Role

The Society's emblem of the right to rule; the artifact whose transfer from Lysander legitimizes Mustang's ascension to Sovereign.
