Story so far
When Eros evades the Nauvoo, Naomi is briefly overwhelmed by the scale of the impossible. She recovers by calculating the station's two-degree heat rise: the movement produced waste heat on the order of a two-gigaton fusion weapon, which means entropy and the laws of physics still hold. That assurance gives James Holden a practical foothold instead of magical despair.
Naomi then keeps the Rocinante's communications and sensor work moving as Eros accelerates, turns radar-invisible, and heads roughly toward Earth. She accepts Captain McBride and the UNN Ravi as fellow pursuers despite their earlier standoff. Her expertise makes the emergency intelligible enough for the crew to continue acting.
Appearance
Naomi is a very tall, long-limbed Belter woman with thick curly black hair and sharp intelligent features. In flight she wears practical shipboard clothes, her fear visible but disciplined behind clear, attentive eyes.
Role
Naomi is the analyst who insists that alien power can still be measured, understood, and therefore opposed.
Relationships
Eros — Naomi Nagata calculates Eros's waste heat and concludes that its impossible propulsion still obeys physical law.
James Holden — Naomi steadies Holden with the evidence that Eros is not magic and works beside him to pursue it.
Ravi — Naomi helps open communication with the Ravi after the former enemy ship joins the pursuit.
