Arturo Ramsey

RCE's lead counsel, whose lawyerly voice message to Holden refuses to free Naomi, hiding behind 'murky' legalities and the on-site security team's advice.

Story so far

Arturo Ramsey is Royal Charter Energy's lead counsel, heard only through a recorded voice message that reaches Holden after the storm. Answering Holden's many escalating requests to free Naomi Nagata from the Edward Israel's brig, Ramsey's reply is smooth corporate stonewalling: RCE 'takes the request very seriously,' but the legal landscape is 'murky at best,' so pending investigation they'll follow 'the advice of the security team on site' — Adolphus Murtry — and hold her in 'protective custody.' The message confirms for Holden that the company is backing Murtry, and pushes him toward forcing the confrontation over evacuation. Ramsey is the distant legal face of RCE's institutional indifference.

Appearance

Unseen — a corporate lawyer known only by a smooth, careful recorded voice reciting legal boilerplate.

Role

RCE's lead counsel; the company's legal voice refusing Naomi's release and deferring to Murtry's on-site authority.

Relationships

Holden — The captain whose demands to free Naomi he formally rebuffs with legal hedging.
Naomi Nagata — The prisoner he declines to release, endorsing her continued 'protective custody.'
Adolphus Murtry — The on-site security chief whose advice to hold Naomi he cites and defers to.
