The team's kua-tin handler, absent at book's end, shipped to a reeducation retreat after a personal tragedy.
Zev did not appear at the fourth-floor exit interview. Loita announced that she had suffered a personal tragedy back home and had been sent to a temporary reeducation retreat to reflect on her life and personal philosophies, adding that such things never take long, especially on the weak-minded. She is supposedly to return as the team's social media manager, with Loita permanently holding the PR agent role above her.
Princess Donut refused to accept the swap, insisting Zev is their PR person and pointing out that Zev always made sure there were snacks. Carl shut the argument down, telling Donut they had to pick their battles, though he stared Loita down as he said it. Afterward Donut asked what reeducation actually means; Carl and Katia Grim exchanged a look and he told her nothing good. Donut still hopes she comes back, calls her a friend despite her being one of the bad guys, and intends to write a television show with her.
A small kua-tin mudskipper who normally wears a deep-diver suit, absent throughout the chapter and known only by comparison to Loita.
