Half a jug of irreplaceable crawler-made liquor, poured over a rail bed and set alight to burn a swarm of newborns.
Rev-Up Moonshine is a rare crawler-made trade good, out of production and coveted, and Carl has been spending it as accelerant all floor — some of it went to a dwarf in trade for the Battery Fabricator that powers the whole rescue. What was left of a jug went on the gravel of the Vermillion Line.
When the Stage Three Monster burst and dumped several thousand rice-grain Krakaren Crotch Dumpling onto the track, Carl started stomping before the system's storytime description had even finished. Gravel defeated him: the loose stone swallowed the force of his boots and left dozens of red dots still moving, and the things were visibly growing. He called everyone back onto the platform, emptied the half-full jug of moonshine over the rail bed, and tossed a torch after it, setting the whole area on fire.
It is a small illustration of Carl's economy. A luxury nobody can make any more, worth serious gold in trade, is the correct answer to a swarm of newborn clones on gravel — and he does not hesitate over the price for a second.
A jug of crawler-distilled moonshine, half full when it was poured out over railroad ties and gravel and lit.
Carl's accelerant and trade currency — this chapter, the delivery system for burning a Krakaren clutch off a rail bed.
