AI

the system AI

The system intelligence that priced Carl at fifty to one and cost Borant a fortune by adjusting too slowly.

Story so far

The system AI sets the betting lines for Death Challenge! events. For Carl it opened general survival odds at fifty to one, an assessment Princess Donut found flatly offensive given how many top-ten crawlers were in the area and ready to intervene.

As bets flooded in the odds slid, but according to Odette far less than they should have, and the AI's sluggish response in altering the spread has become the basis of Borant Corporation's formal appeal. If the appeal does not go their way, there is nothing they can do about the losses. The episode marks the AI as an independent arbiter whose rulings even the dungeon's owners must contest through process rather than override.

Role

System arbiter of odds and outcomes, now the target of a corporate appeal.
