Jasha

Jasha the bugbear

A bugbear of Team Free Love whose calm, sorrowful account lays bare the dungeon's cyclical use of self-aware NPCs.

Story so far

Jasha is a level 65 bugbear of Team Free Love, teammate to Radoslav and the late Alevtina. After their minivan crashes in the first heat, Jasha delivers the fuller confession to Carl and Princess Donut: he and Radoslav are self-aware NPCs who only recently remembered their many past dungeon lives — and 'the cold' of the in-between they were never meant to recall — after a dying bune crawler told them 'this is all a game' and something 'clicked.' A voice then offered them a choice: return to the cold, or race for genuine freedom to a real place where they'd never fight again. He gently tells Carl there's nothing to be done for them since they can't finish without their van, until Carl insists on towing them.

Appearance

A bugbear in a tie-dyed shirt and headband (which he disgustedly rips off), no pants, smoking; sad and composed.

Role

The Team Free Love bugbear whose testimony reveals the tragic sentience and reincarnation of dungeon NPCs.

Relationships

Radoslav — His teammate and kin-across-lives, sharing cigarettes and grief on the track.
Alevtina — Their dead teammate, who most wanted to win and start a family.
Carl — Warns him to keep moving, then accepts his offer to be towed to the finish.
