Carl's little Home Depot cactus, dread-trapped by Li Na into a remote life-status beacon that reports her survival from beyond the game.
Carl's cactus is an ordinary little Home Depot cactus in a plastic pot, a memento of his Earth class pick that Samantha evicted from his room for clashing with the new rug. Li Na repurposes it into a communication beacon by casting her dread trap Deadly Bloom on it before she departs: normally the trap blooms and releases paralytic spores when approached, but here its state encodes her fate. Glowing and ready means she's alive inside the dungeon; if it activates and blooms unlit, she has left the game to the Pineapple Cabaret; if it dissipates to dust, she died inside; a slow fade over days means she's trapped in the cleaner bot's storage.
Crucially, if she reaches the Cabaret safely she can remotely bloom a single flower atop the still-glowing cactus to signal it is safe to send more crawlers — or three flowers to warn them off. The whole mass-evacuation decision hinges on this one poky, glowing houseplant, so the crew must guard it and never touch it.
