Chalchiuhtlicue

Chachi · the angel lady · the shining lady

A weak, unstable child-sacrificing water-and-fire goddess, escaped from the dungeon and now nested inside Lucia Mar with the trapped children.

Story so far

Chalchiuhtlicue — 'Chachi' — is a goddess who has escaped the dungeon and taken up residence inside Lucia Mar, the vessel of 120,000 trapped children, needing no controlling dogs as 'the Residual and the Primal' did. Through Lucia she preaches to Carl that she is kind and protective yet that the kindest mercy may be to let the trapped children all die before others take their bodies. Samantha and Rosetta fill in the terrifying truth: she is a catchall water, fire, childbirth, and harvest goddess (analogous to Earth's Aztec Chalchiuhtlicue — benevolent in myth, originator of a flood myth from her endless weeping, yet worshipped with human sacrifice), never sponsored and comparatively weak in the Ascendency.

Emotionally unstable and 'cuckoo,' she claims to safeguard children while leaving 'dead babies left and right' — once ordering a whole daycare sacrificed over cilantro in an appetizer. Her presence made Carl's Scavenger's Daughter patch try to activate, hinting at a possible two-way link between the trapped children's true location and the dungeon. A child-killing goddess now sharing a body with the very children she would sacrifice — a fresh nightmare in the endgame.

Appearance

An unmanifested goddess perceived through Lucia Mar; described as pretty, in a green skirt, funny of speech, and prone to weeping — the children's 'shining' or 'angel' lady.

Role

An unstable, weak child-sacrificing water goddess nested inside Lucia Mar among the trapped children.

Relationships

Lucia Mar — Her host vessel, whom she inhabits among the 120,000 trapped children.
Carl — Whom she courts as a fellow 'vessel,' and on whom Samantha smells her scent.
Samantha — The god-head who exposes her as a serial child-sacrificer.
Scavenger's Daughter — Carl's patch that reacts strangely in her presence, hinting at a link to the children's true location.
