Ear Protection

Earplugs

Magical hearing protection against the crawlers' own Dazzlers, stripped by the diffusion spell and hastily restored.

Story so far

The crawler assault runs its own Dazzlers at close range, so hearing protection is mandatory — and still barely adequate: the music blares painfully loud despite the earplugs as Carl runs.

When the Deshrouded diffusion spell cancels all War Protections, the ear protection snaps off with everything else while the Dazzler lights and music keep going. Donut and Mongo both appear to be screaming with pain, and Mongo rears at the sound. Donut's protection reappears first, then Mongo's, and she heals the pet on the run. Carl separately has to mute his Casualty Notification feed when the plinks blur into one continuous hum.

Appearance

Magical earplugs or a protective aura muffling the Dazzlers' sound, visible to Carl as an effect flickering off and back on.

Role

The buff that lets the crawlers advance behind their own sonic weapons.

Relationships

Dazzlers — Exists to shield crawlers from their own suppression weapon.

Deshrouded — Strips it mid-charge along with all other protections.

Mongo — Rears in pain when his is stripped.
