character

Edgar

Surgical director of Louis's operation and the man who once found the orphaned Signet.

Story so far

Edgar takes charge of the plan for Louis's Surgery, laying out the full sequence: Mordecai cuts, Donut administers the healing potion, two people hold the chest open, Imani and Rosetta open Princess Lunette and expose her heart and pulmonary system, then thirty seconds to swap human organs for naiad ones with Juice Box activating and a graft to finish. He is the one who realizes the tiny Kua-tin Rebreather in Carl's inventory will fit — "not where we're going to put it."

He calls out when the heart stops and shouts for the potion at the critical moment, and it is Edgar who announces "It worked" when Louis's chest seals and the gills hold. His history with Lunette runs deeper than the surgery: he found Signet as a young, alone half-naiad after her mother's death at the hands of high elves.

Appearance

Bent over the operating cots calling instructions, hands in the work alongside Mordecai's.

Mordecai — Co-directs the surgery with him.
Signet — Found her as an orphaned half-naiad child.
